I did have a mechanical failure after having bought the car but they fixed it, at no charge, since it was within the 30 day full warranty period. They even shuttled me back to work and picked me up when the repair was complete. Very friendly and considerate staff.
I don't understand why people go to this place. They sell you a car for more than it's worth so you are instantly upside-down in your loan. Their no-haggle price is really a rip-off. Do your homework before you go and stick to your guns. Don't be duped. Use the TruCar app to determine the correct price for your car and remain firm that you are not going to get taken to the cleaners. Their GAP insurance is twice the cost that it should be. People on this site who are drooling over their no-haggle price don't realize it's a bad idea. And a bad idea is a bad idea, is a bad idea.
My experience with CarMax was great until I got the car. They gave me the wrong car, did I notice it right away, no not at all. They didn't call me at all I had to call them and inform them of something they had no idea about. The car that I received was very similar to the car i viewed on their website. This was a big mistake that they had made. When i called them they told me that they gave me the wrong car and I told them I know I dint realize it until later on that night after they were closed, then he asked me " how did you not know it was the wrong car to begin with". I proceeded to tell the man over the phone that I was excited about the new car and was ready to just drive it off the lot and go drive her around. After stating why I didn't really realize that it was the wrong car he said bring it back tonight, and that was fine with me. I went there that night to get my actual car and when I told them what had happened all of the sales people were like 'oh my god, that never happens". They were acting scared like i was mad about the whole thing. I was not upset until the sales manager came out and basically said give me the keys, here are your keys for the other car, I said okay thinking I was going to get like free warranty, or some kind of compensation for what had happened, granted I was driving around in a car that was uninsured for over 24 hours, anything could have happened, taking time out of my day to fix their problem. I wasn't asking for a lot just something for a huge mistake that they said happens "1.6% of the time" . Overall not a bad place to buy a car other than that they increase the price of the car a lot but it is easy to get approved. I don't know, will I buy a car from them again, probably not.
This is my second vehicle that I've purchased from CarMax because they give you a no haggle experience. I received excellent customer service from the salesmen, business office and service department. I have recommended them to friends who have had the same 5-star experience that I encountered. Overall, I will be there again when my other daughter needs a vehicle.
I had a great experience with CarMax. My salesman bent over backwards to get me in a affordable and reliable car. I love the fact that I did not feel pressured to pick something I did not want. Thanks CarMax for putting me back on the road again!!!
