Booked a car a week ago and prepaid... was supposed to pick it up and noon... still waiting.
The car given to me was a Focus from Florida. Let me start off with, the guys were willing to let me walk out of the place without doing a once-over. Thankfully I requested for them to do so and found that the engine tray was hanging and dragging the ground, dents and scratches all over, the rear camera was pushed in and assembly hanging. Then the interior was stained from top to bottom (I'm not jesting...) And there was a thick scent; what, I don't know.
Associates lack basic customer service skills and ability to communicate in a way that makes them sound like they care.. as is typical for hertz.
I have ALWAYS been treated well at this location, my last two rentals were SWEET, 17 chevy cruz and a 17 Nissan Altima S model w/sunroof. I just booked my next rental with them.
Had a RESERVATION for a mid size and when I came in was told I had to take the car that the extremely nice gentleman, Corky picked me up in because they did not have any mid size available. The size of this car was slightly larger than a smart car!! When asked why I did not have the car I reserved he just said they did not have any. I told him I felt like this was a Seinfeld episode and his only response was, "I wish it was a Seinfeld episode". He then told me the car was full of gas and I asked him. "How do you know?". After actually getting up out of his chair and checking he found that the car was not full. I told him I wanted to trade this in for a larger car this afternoon and instead of assuring me they would hold the next mid size that was returned he said I should probably call first! When walking me around vehicle, he immediately said there was not damage and I found two dents in the front! NEVER AGAIN! I had a feeling I should have stuck with Enterprise but my insurance company recommended these guys and said I would get a better rate.
Thanks guys! Love the St. Peters Hertz.
I've been a Gold Member for years and this wasn't a terrible experience (I've a better understanding of cars and know what to/not to do) but I feel like certainly was terrible display of Hertz's public image.
If I could give 0 starts I would.
BREAKING - Car Rentals Places often run out of cars, also they will charge you $9.99+ if you are not smart enough to fill up before returning. Some of general public can't figure this out and I feel sorry for them.
Bottom line: to those of you renting from this location, do not leave that lot without having them document everything wrong with the car. I didn't get charged for that mess and I'd hate to hear that someone else got blamed then charged for something they didn't do.
Much later than agreed upon on picking me up, which made me late for work. Processing the rental was not totally smooth either.
Maybe I’ll update this when I eventually pick up this car .... if it ever actually shows up
Then there was the engine... It would occasionally judder and hesitate. One of the wheels was out of balance (or axle), and the lighting would dim and brighten with revs (likely alternator dying)
Honestly? I would expect cars that dirty from airfields, not an HLE location :/ utterly embarrassing.
